About the Project

Operating nationwide with a cooperative structure, the insurer needed a platform that supports advisory services and digital interaction with private clients and SMEs. We helped optimise their web application, enabling digital wealth management and advanced financial operations. The solution handled sensitive data, integrated with established financial service providers, and supported advanced calculations critical to investment and portfolio analysis.

Client’s Needs

The product’s growing scope created a need for continuous optimisation, feature expansion, and technical stabilisation. Sustainable growth depended on a stable architecture, clean implementation, and the ability to extend functionality without introducing regressions.

How We Delivered

We joined the project at the support, improvement, and optimisation stage, working closely with the internal team in a team extension model. Key priorities included implementing new features, resolving existing bugs, and improving overall product robustness. 

Our work covered both backend and frontend development, with a strong emphasis on business logic, system reliability, and integration with external financial services.

Tech Stack

The project was built using ASP.NET Core on the backend and React on the frontend, with MS SQL Server handling structured financial data. CI/CD processes were supported through Azure Pipelines to enable controlled deployments and ongoing improvements without disrupting active users.

Implementing new functionality

A significant portion of the platform’s functionality was implemented during our involvement. We expanded the application’s capabilities and aligned each addition with existing business workflows. This included extending core logic, improving data handling, and ensuring new features integrated smoothly into the broader system.

Portfolio performance calculator

The task required implementing parameterised statistical formulas that accurately reflected real-world financial scenarios. The challenge was in translating financial models into reliable, testable backend logic and maintaining flexibility for future adjustments to align with advisory use cases and pension-related calculations.

We approached this by carefully analysing the required parameters, validating assumptions with the client, and implementing a scalable calculation structure within ASP.NET Core.

Third-party integrations

The platform is integrated with several external financial and identity services, including additiv DFS, FIdentity, and Finnova. We worked on improving and stabilising these integrations for consistent data exchange and predictable behaviour across different user flows.

Bug fixing & optimisation

Alongside feature development, we addressed existing bugs across both the backend and frontend. Code quality and maintainability were also considered to help reduce technical debt and make future development more predictable.

Business Impact

The enhanced platform now delivers a more consistent and trustworthy experience for financial operations. By contributing to more than 50% of the new functionality, we reinforced the platform’s financial advisory processes and customer-facing pension workflows typical for a nationwide insurer. With these improvements in place, the platform is well-positioned to support growing user needs and scale further as a reliable foundation.
